WHAT is it?
King’s Day or koningsdag (http://www.iamsterdam.com/en/visiting/whats-on/kings-day/all-about-kings-day-in-amsterdam) One of the biggest street festivals in Europe, immersed in a cheerful, electric and eccentric atmosphere where everyone are dressed in orange, with live music, an endless series of parties, dJ sets in the streets, flea markets, a riot of flowers and colorful boats in the canals and live music day and night in the streets.

In the past it was called Queen’s Day and afterwards amended in 2014 after the King’s proclamation Willem-Alexander.
This festival was born the first time in 1885 for the Queen’s birthday Wilhelmina.
When her daughter Beatrice, became sovereign, she decided to maintan the party in honor of her mother, but changing the name in King’s day, for celebrate the King’s birthday Willem-Alexander.
